Jim Butler, Director of Dining Services

Q. Tell us a little about you and your background.
I was born in Waunakee, Wisconsin, a village near Madison in southern Wisconsin. I first worked in a family-owned restaurant and my college work study job was in the campus pizzeria at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where I majored in history and education. After college, I worked in a succession of country clubs, restaurants and resorts in Wisconsin, before shifting to campus dining at Frostburg State University. I then spent 10 years at a private prep school before returning to college campuses in the fall of 2018. I spend my free time cooking, doing volunteer work, some bike riding, a lot of reading and I visit my three adult children at every opportunity.

Q. How do you unwind or have fun? Any hobbies or hidden talents?
I read a lot and look for projects or events where I can donate my time. I really enjoy working public events for organizations like the SPCA or Habitat for Humanity.

Q. Are you looking forward to anything in particular at W&L?
I am excited to participate in the launch of the refurbished dining facilities – it’s very exciting stuff!

Stacy Karicofe, Public Safety Investigator – Student Affairs

Q. Tell us a little about you and your background.
I have been married for 33 years and have two children, a daughter (Lauren) and a son (Garret). I worked for the Commonwealth of Virginia for 30 years, before retiring in August 2019.

Q. How do you unwind or have fun? Any hobbies or hidden talents?
I like spending time with my family and participating in church activities. I enjoy caring for my pets – I have four cats, two dogs and several chickens, and I like watching movies.

Q. Anything you are looking forward to in particular at W&L?
I am excited about joining the W&L family!
