Q. How long have you worked at W&L?
I have been here since April, so I’m still fairly new!

Q. Where is your favorite location on the W&L campus?
This is unoriginal, but my answer is the Colonnade. It’s stunning and I’m grateful for the rich history. Another favorite for both me and my dog Louis is Woods Creek Trail.

Q. Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Cedar Bluff, Virginia — the Heart of Appalachia where there’s no shortage of peaceful rolling mountains and the pace of life moves slower. It’s in Tazewell County, in the very southwest part of the state.

Q. What advice do you have for students?
A dear friend and mentor once told me not to let fear dictate your decisions. Those words have stayed with me and ring true to many moments in life. I’d also encourage students to utilize all the resources and opportunities the university provides. And remember, there’s truth to the phrase ‘work hard, play hard.’ Have fun, stay focused and look out for each other.

Q. What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not working?
Travel is one of my favorites — I like looking forward to the next trip even if it’s just a weekend getaway or day trip. Spending time with friends and family or just snuggling up on the couch with a movie or book.

Q. If you could live anywhere, where would you build your dream home?
That’s a tough one since there are so many places I haven’t seen yet, but without a doubt, it would be an oceanfront dream home.

Q. Who most inspires you?
I find inspiration in many people, but lately it’s been my nephew, Atlas. He turns two this month and has brought so much joy to our family. His sweetness, curiosity and playfulness are glowing reminders of life’s best parts. He is such a blessing.

Q. What book are you reading now?
I’m reading “The Meaning of Marriageby Timothy Keller and “Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. I’m also in the middle of “Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen on audiobook.

Q. What music are you listening to these days?
My most frequented genres are gospel, classic rock, bluegrass and country with some R&B as throw backs to my college days. It really depends on what I’m doing at the time. My Spotify Wrapped included Kacey Musgraves, Zach Top, Usher, Van Morrison and Dan Tyminski.

Q. What is your favorite film (movie) of all time?
I’ve never been able to pick just one, but a few from my top 10 are “Sleepless in Seattle,” “A League of Their Own,” and “We Are Marshall.”

Q. What is the website you visit most often and why?
Probably Zillow — I check it at least once a day, if not more. I love browsing properties and land listings. It’s fun to dream about different places and imagine how a space could be improved. Plus, it’s interesting to watch how the market changes.

Q. If you could have coffee with one person, who would it be and why?
I’d choose both my grandmothers — Mommaw Earls and Mommaw Stacy. They both passed when I was young and I’d love the chance to talk with them now.

Q. What is your desert island food?
Filet hibachi with a side of sushi.

Q. Tell us something most people don’t know about you.
I still tie my shoes with two bunny ears … kind of weird, I know, and I couldn’t whistle until I was an adult.

Q. What is your secret talent?
I don’t shoot nearly enough to fully refine my skills but I would say photography.
