Washington and Lee University’s Mock Convention will host a moderated discussion between Vice President Mike Pence and Bret Baier, chief political anchor of Fox News, for its Spring Kickoff event.

The event will be held on Tuesday, March 21, at 6 p.m. in W&L’s University Chapel.

Michael R. Pence served as the 48th Vice President of the United States. Before he became Vice President, Pence served as Indiana’s governor from 2013-2017. He represented Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2001-2013. Pence is the founder of Advancing American Freedom, a 501(c)(4) organization that advocates for conservative values and policies.

As Fox News’s chief political anchor and anchor and executive editor of Special Report with Bret Baier, Bret Baier is a highly acclaimed journalist with extensive experience covering political leaders and issues influencing policy.

The Spring Kickoff Event will launch the Convention’s Mock Con Meets Main Street initiative. Mock Con is committed to supporting small businesses by utilizing local businesses in operations, highlighting student entrepreneurs, and connecting students and faculty with businesses in Lexington.

Mock Con is the nation’s most accurate mock political nominating convention, with 74% accuracy over 115 years. Three years of student-led work culminate with the convention itself—held Feb. 9-11, 2024—which will feature a citywide parade, notable speakers, and the predicted nomination.
