Professor Kish Parella Named Co-Chair of 2022 Annual Meeting of the American Society of International Law

During  the 2021 annual meeting of the American Society of International Law (ASIL), society president Catherine Amirfar of the firm Debevoise & Plimpton announced that W&L Law Professor Kish Parella will serve as a co-chair of ASIL’s 2022 annual meeting along with Professor Rachel Lopez of Drexel School of Law and Patrick Pearsall of the firm Allen & Overy.

ASIL was founded in 1906 and its mission is to foster the study of international law and to promote the establishment and maintenance of international relations on the basis of law and justice.  The Society’s 3,500 members from more than 100 nations include attorneys, academics, corporate counsel, judges, representatives of governments and nongovernmental organizations, international civil servants, students and others interested in international law.

At W&L Law, Professor Parella teaches courses at the intersection of law and business, including contracts, international business transactions, and corporate social responsibility. Her research is in international economic law, with a focus on the cross-border regulation of corporations and other non-state actors.

Professor Parella’s scholarship has appeared or is forthcoming in Duke Law Journal, Vanderbilt Law Review, Notre Dame Law Review, Washington Law Review, the American Business Law Journal, and leading international law journals, among others.  Three of her recent papers (“Reputational Regulation,” “Public Relations Litigation,” and “Improving Social Compliance in Supply Chains,”) have been selected for presentation at the Stanford/Harvard/Yale Junior Faculty Forum in consecutive years (2017, 2018, 2019).

She has also been invited to present her research at the Annual Research Forum of the American Society of International Law, and the annual meetings of the American Law & Economics Association and the Society for Institutional & Organizational Economics. She has been awarded the Law School’s Ethan Allen Faculty Fellowship for Scholarship and Lewis Prize for Excellence in Legal Scholarship by the Francis Lewis Center.
