Washington and Lee University to Host Real Estate Forum The event will be held in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 12-13.

Washington and Lee University will host the Real Estate Forum, Oct. 12-13, 2023, in Washington, D.C. The event will offer participants a blend of learning, discussion, and networking opportunities, connecting established industry experts with emerging real estate professionals.

“I am so excited to see the W&L Real Estate Forum return this year,” said Elisabeth Mygatt ’06, chair of the alumni steering committee. “It is a fantastic opportunity to bring together bright minds in the industry to discuss current trends, hear from leaders of various asset classes and network with peers.”

Willy Walker, chairman and CEO of Walker & Dunlop, will open Friday’s program with a keynote address. Under his leadership, Walker & Dunlop has grown from a small, family-owned business to become one of the largest commercial real estate finance companies in the United States. His accolades include the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2011 and the “Financier of the Year” title in 2017 and 2020 by Commercial Mortgage Observer.

The afternoon keynote address will be given by Spencer Levy, global client strategist and senior economic advisor at CBRE. Levy is part of CBRE’s Global Client Care team, a global group of professionals responsible for account management and client experience programs for the company’s largest clients. In addition to his client-facing role, Levy serves as a primary company spokesperson and is considered one of the most insightful commentators on commercial real estate issues. He hosts CBRE’s award-winning podcast “The Weekly Take,” the most heavily downloaded podcast in commercial real estate.

Other programming highlights include panels diving into the nuances of investment outlooks and capital markets, complemented by a fireside chat aimed at decoding the intricacies of real estate cycles.
