W&L Prepares to Welcome Parents and Family Members to Campus Parents and Family Weekend 2021 is scheduled for Oct. 1-3.

Washington and Lee University is looking forward to welcoming students’ families back to campus for Parents and Family Weekend Oct. 1-3. Parents and Family Weekend is a fun and meaningful tradition at W&L.

Family members are encouraged to explore campus throughout the weekend and interact with the organizations, people and places that have become so important to students. Registration for the weekend is now open and can be accessed online. The deadline to register is Friday, Sept. 17.

This year, parents and family members can look forward to topical and compelling programs by staff, presentations from faculty and interactions with student community members. Family members are encouraged to join students in their courses, participate in campus activities and engage in various open houses and seminars.

As part of the weekend’s offerings, President Will Dudley will deliver an address on Saturday, Oct. 2.

Families are also invited to explore the greater Rockbridge County area. Read more about Lexington’s unique location and things to do on and off campus here.

“Parents and Family Weekend is a special time for the entire campus community,” said Mary Webster, incoming director of special events at W&L. “We look forward to welcoming the families of our students each fall, and after having to cancel last year’s weekend because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to join together again. This year’s events feature a wide array of interesting and engaging activities. We are thankful and ready for this amazing weekend on campus.”

The university will update the event website frequently with new programming information for this special weekend. View a sample schedule of past Parents and Family Weekend events and check back regularly for updates here.

In terms of anticipated health and safety protocols, Lexington-area transmission levels are currently designated in the substantial-to-high category on the CDC’s Data Tracker COVID-19 Integrated County View. For that reason, all visitors, including those who are fully vaccinated, are expected to wear masks in public indoor spaces on campus. The university will update expectations as needed on the event website in advance of Parents and Family Weekend.
