W&L Presents Senior Piano Recital Featuring Chad Thomas ’21 On May 23, Chad Thomas’21 will present a graduation piano recital featuring George Gershwin’s monumental work, “Rhapsody in Blue,” and other pieces.
Chad Thomas ’21, a Washington and Lee University senior, will present a graduation piano recital featuring George Gershwin’s monumental work, “Rhapsody in Blue,” and other pieces on May 23 at 3 p.m. At W&L, Thomas is double-majoring in mathematics and philosophy.
The performance will be streamed for free online at https://livestream.com/wlu.
Thomas is a pianist and guitarist with the University Jazz Ensemble. He has studied piano with Shuko Watanabe, instructor of music at W&L, for four years.
“I consider Professor Watanabe my strongest music mentor who has ultimately helped me become the well-rounded musician I am today,” Thomas said.
Thomas credits the Jazz Improvisation course taught by Denny Euprasert, visiting instructor of music, as his most significant music studies course at W&L.
While at W&L, Thomas’ extracurriculars include serving as a representative of the Class of 2021 Executive Committee, vice chair of Traveller, Ethics Bowl Debate Team co-captain, JUDD Journal editor and Appalachian Adventure trip leader.
