W&L’s Lena Hill Interviewed in Diverse: Issues in Higher Education In the interview, Hill discusses her new appointment as W&L provost, effective July 1, 2021.
Lena Hill, dean of the College and professor of English and Africana studies at Washington and Lee University, was recently interviewed for a Diverse: Issues in Higher Education article titled “Washington and Lee University Appoints Dr. Lena Hill as Next Provost.” Hill’s new appointment will take effect on July 1, 2021.
In the interview, Hill says, “I want to make sure that as I move into this new role, that the open door and my ability to form relationships continues and deepens because anyone who goes into academic leadership discovers that, after spending your entire professional life as a faculty member, you occupy this strange space of distance from those with whom you have the most in common. And I want to fight against that distance.”
