W&L’s Museums Present ‘Choc-Full of History’ Tasting Event The public event will feature hot chocolate tasting of historic recipes and feature a display of historic ceramics made for chocolate (beverages?) with Ron Fuchs, W&L's senior curator of ceramics.
The Museums at Washington and Lee University invite the public to a tasty open house on March 2 at 4 p.m. in the Reeves Museum of Ceramics titled “Choc-Full of History.” The event will feature hot chocolate tasting and is free and open to the W&L community and the general public, but seating is limited and registration is required at http://tiny.cc/chocfull.
Visitors can enjoy a centuries-old hot chocolate recipe using American Heritage chocolates that recreate 18th-century chocolate recipes from England and colonial North America. Attendees will also learn about the history of the tasty treat, as well as handle some historic ceramics made for chocolate beverages with W&L’s senior curator of ceramics, Ron Fuchs.
“This event is an excellent way to show that the historical ceramics in the collection are objects that were made to be used, and specifically to understand more about the history of chocolate,” said Fuchs.
