W&L’s PLAI Lab to Hold AI Music Festival and Discussion The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 in Leyburn Library Room 128.
The PLAI Lab at Washington and Lee University will host an AI Music Festival from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, in Leyburn Library Room 128.
The event begins with a group discussion for the first 30 minutes centering on the ethics, art and industry impacts of artificial intelligence on music generation. The festival is free and open to the university community.
Led by Terry Vosbein, professor of music, and Anthony Cincotta, visiting assistant professor of music and administrator of music operations, the festival will explore what AI-generated music means for musicians, creativity and the future of the music industry.
Following the discussion, attendees are invited to experiment by creating their own AI-generated music.
