Washington and Lee University’s Department of Music presents Jeff Coffin and the CPK Trio at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, in Wilson Concert Hall in the Lenfest Center for the Arts. The performance is part of the SonoKlect Series, a program dedicated to bringing modern music to local audiences in Lexington.
The event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.
Coffin is a world-renowned saxophonist and flutist, drawing freely from a range of genres (including jazz, funk and rock) and styles from around the world. He will be joined by drummer Jordan Perlson and bassist Viktor Krauss, his partners in the CPK Trio, a collaboration that brings together three musicians with strikingly diverse careers. Improvisation is central to the CPK Trio’s approach, with sophisticated arrangements and original compositions providing a framework for the trio to explore new territory.
The performance will also feature special guest Bob Lanzetti, a guitarist, composer, producer and educator who has performed in more than 40 countries with the Grammy Award-winning ensemble Snarky Puppy.
