Cody Watson, assistant professor of computer science at Washington and Lee University, has published a paper in the International Conference on Software Engineering titled “On Learning Meaningful Assert Statements for Unit Test Cases.”
Watson’s research for the paper analyzes and automatically generates unit test suites for software projects using neural machine translation. His work is being extended and has made progress in the application of deep learning toward automatically testing software projects.
Watson’s research also focuses on the applications of deep learning and artificial intelligence in software engineering and interdisciplinary topics. He is continuing his work this summer as he develops an approach to automatically identify and possibly correct security vulnerabilities in large software projects.
