W&L Presents Screening of the West End’s ‘All My Sons’ The Sept. 22 screening features Bryan Cranston and Marianne Jean-Baptiste in Arthur Miller’s American classic.

The Lenfest Center at Washington and Lee University kicks off its National Theatre Live series with a screening of “All My Sons” at 7 p.m. on Sept. 22 in Stackhouse Theater in Elrod Commons.

Tickets are required and available online or in person at the Lenfest Box Office.

W&L’s National Theatre Live screenings are part of the Lenfest Center’s Outreach & Engagement (O&E) series. This year’s lineup will feature screenings of six top British theater productions, connecting university knowledge and art experiences on the W&L campus and beyond to the local community in a mutually beneficial partnership. Future screening from the series include “The Playboy of the Western World” on Oct. 20 and “Les Liaisons Dangereuses” on Nov. 10.

Arthur Miller’s 1947 play is a powerful American classic, with complex family relationships and award-worthy performances from Bryan Cranston and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.

At the heart of the play is the Keller family, whose seemingly comfortable life is haunted by a post-World War II tragedy. When the long-held truths resurface, the family is asked to confront different questions about love, loyalty, guilt and responsibility, all while their relationships are being tested and trialed. Using the framework of a family story to reflect a larger moral and social picture, the drama raises the question about how far we are willing to go to protect those closest to us.

Directed by Ivo van Hove and designed by Jan Versweyveld, this performance was filmed live from Wyndham’s Theater on London’s West End during its 2025-2026 run. The Guardian praised the production’s “dream cast” with a five-star rating, while the Evening Standard called it an “astonishing piece of theater.” The Independent praised Cranston’s performance, stating that he was “magnetic” in the play’s “masterful staging.”
